Top 12 Simple Pleasures of Spending Time Outdoors - Stoned in the Snow

Top 12 Simple Pleasures of Spending Time Outdoors

Weed can enhance any outdoor experience. When the snow is flying fast and fluffy it can mesmerize you into thinking you’re in a Star Wars movie. And that’s a great place to be! But why not take it a step further and enjoy a few more of life’s simple outdoor pleasures. You’ll be amazed at what they can do for your psyche. As always, whatever activity you choose to do while stoned, make sure to consume responsibly.

You could just sit in your own backyard catching snowflakes on your tongue, but how about something a little more stimulating, like washing your face out with snow. That’ll wake you up!

But seriously, like everyone else, we’ve been locked down inside long enough. So here are 12 things you can do to turn your crank in the white stuff while also keeping social distancing in mind. Enjoy!

Build a snowman!

Build a snowman – Not an ordinary snowman. Anyone can do that. Make it as crazy looking as possible. Make more than one, use strange poses, and dress them up in the goofiest clothing you can find. Make sure you talk to them while you’re dressing them up. You’ll be the envy of the neighbours, and you’ll have some new friends.

Have a snowball fight!

Have a snowball fight – Get back to being a kid again and toss a few softies at whoever you’re allowed to be hanging out with. More serious warriors will use garbage can lids as shields. Play really loud music, fall down as much as possible, and don’t break any windows.

Go skating!

Go skating, play hockey – Maybe you haven’t had your skates on in 10 years. Doesn’t matter. The really fun thing about skating is how fast you can go compared to walking. Wear lots of padding just in case you forget who you are and go head over heels while doing your Wayne Gretzky or Elizabeth Manley imitations.

Stare at snowflakes!

Stare at snowflakes – We can’t elaborate too much on this one. Dress warm, pull up a lawn chair or a park bench and see if every snowflake is really different from the previous one. They taught us that in school, but there are trillions and you need to gather evidence. Start here.

Slap on the skis!

Slap on the skis – Cross-country skiing is a great way to stay fit and the scenery on a beautiful winter day in the forest can be incredible when you’re ripped. Don’t know where to go? We’ve got you covered with these ski trails. Just remember where you went. Maybe bring a friend or family member with you, just in case.

Snowshoe in the bush!

Snowshoe in the bush – It’s been described as floating on snow and walking on water, and it will give you thighs of steel, not to mention building up your cardio system. There’s a bit of an art to snowshoeing but you can practice in your backyard before you go. Just don’t let anyone see you, they might think you’re weird. Who cares, right? Tips here. On snowshoeing, not on being weird.

Go for a walk in the woods!

Go for a walk in the woods – We don’t really need to explain this one. You put one foot in front of the other, preferably while surrounded by the mind-bending beauty of a Manitoba park or a forest nestled in snow. Escape from reality for an hour or two. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much it improves your productivity, your patience, and anything else that might be mentally ailing you. The healing power of nature will amaze you.

Look at the stars!

Look at the stars  Stargazing isn’t just for astronomers and romantics. There’s more up there than you might think. It’s not just the Big Dipper and Orion’s Belt you’re looking at. Scientists have discovered numerous new planets that might support life as we know it. Get lost in that thought. You might be living up there someday.

Build a snow fort!

Build a snow fort – If you’re outside on a sunny day, stoned and surrounded by snow, you might get the urge to be creative. Why not build a snow fort? If you have kids, they’ll love you for it. They might even let you use it as a secret hideaway. Who doesn’t need one of those? And when you’re ready to move to the next level, try these advanced snow fort ideas.

Make snow angels!

Make snow angels – This is best done with a friend, six feet apart of course, but close enough that they can dream with you while you’re both looking up at the sky. This is a day or night activity, but darkness on a clear night offers you the chance of seeing shooting stars to wish upon, cows jumping over the moon, and maybe even the northern lights. You do know they whisper, right?

Go tobogganing!

Go tobogganing – When was the last time you took a wild ride down a hill on a toboggan or one of those flying saucer things? This is something not to be missed. Falling off and wiping out are probably the best parts of the ride. Wind in your hair, snow in your face and a big smile all the way to the bottom. Try one of the hills listed here, unless you already have a secret spot. Do you?

Make a campfire!

Make a campfire – Obviously, you have to follow all the guidelines when making a campfire anywhere, but the time and effort required (how hard it can it be, really?) to build one pays off. You’ll spend hours staring into the flames subconsciously thinking about the meaning of life and clearing your mind at the same time, and you won’t even know you’re doing it.

If you get the munchies, try roasting marshmallows or wieners. Campfires are great for romance, too. You’ll certainly be in the right frame of mind.

Imagine the adventure that awaits!
